As the nation celebrates 80 years since VE and VJ day in 1945, we are planning a special weekend, as Rowhedge looks back at its role in World War Two. From historic photos and artefacts to detailed models of warships and authentic wartime equipment, our Rowhedge at War exhibition will bring to life the experiences of villagers during the war years.
You can explore life on the Home Front with rationing displays, a life-size ‘pill box’ and Anderson shelter, along with stories of the Home Guard and civil defence teams. There’ll be plenty for children too, with activities and wartime toys to discover – and don’t miss our NAAFI-style café, serving up ‘street party’ cakes and refreshments.
It’s all taking place over Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st September, from 10am to 4pm in Rowhedge Village Hall. Entry is free, and everyone is welcome.
